Are you planning on tailgating before or after watching your team play?
Tailgating is one of the best ways to spend time with friends and family before the start of the game you’ve gone to watch. It’s also an ideal way to celebrate post-match and allows for people to get to know each other, relax, and just have a good time.
Best Tailgating Games
There’s a whole host of tailgate games to play – from lawn games all the way through to sports games. You can decide ahead of time what you want to play or you can improvise on the spot depending on what you have available. Some tailgate games to try are cornhole and beer pong.
Why Play Tailgating Games to Begin With?
Let’s just say games bring out the kid in all of us. While starting them can seem awkward, don’t you just love that moment when you randomly look up from whatever game you’re playing to see grownups having fun in the middle of nowhere? There’s nothing like these best party games to brighten up the atmosphere.
Newest Tailgate Sports Game
Some of the best tailgate sports games today are sholf, jarts, and Louisville Chugger. However, we have new kids on the block, and these include games such as pocket passer football.
Pocket Passer Football
This game needs you to have a cutout board that can fit a football. The board can have as many holes as you want, but standard boards have six holes. The concept of the game is simple: throw a football into one of the holes. You score points if you manage to get the football into one of the pockets.
Best Tailgate Lawn Game
Some of the most common and most popular tailgate lawn games include kanjam, ladder golf, cornhole, and Polish horseshoes. You can never go wrong with any of these four. The one that beats the rest of course is cornhole.
Cornhole is a favorite tailgate party game. It involves having two elevated platforms each with a hole in which bean bags are thrown. The objective of the game is straightforward – throw the bean bag into the hole to win three points. Land on the board and you get one point. The more bags land in the hole, the higher your chances of winning the game. The first team to reach 21 points wins.
Insanely Fun Tailgate Party Games
Beer pong, flipcup, the infamous ladder toss and washer pitching are just some of the tailgate party games that will certainly light up the party!
Ladder toss is infamously also known as the testicle toss. Totally makes sense if you see the apparatus (excuse the pun) used to play the game! To play this game, you need a ladder designed with three rungs, as well as two balls held together by a string.
The objective of this game is to throw the balls towards a selected rung. Each rung has a different point system and you start throwing towards the top rung first going down. What makes this game fun is the fact that you can take it up a notch by attempting to displace your opponent’s balls from the ladder to gain more points.
Beer itself is already a staple at tailgate parties. So it was only a matter of time before someone devised a game that incorporated the alcoholic beverage, and hence beer pong was born. Beer pong can have as many as eight players at any one point.
To play the game requires filling up several plastic cups with beer. Arrange the cups into a triangle. Opposing sides take turns bouncing a ping pong ball into the opposing team’s cups. If the ball lands in the cup, you have to drink up. If the ball lands in an empty cup, you drink one of your own cups of beer. The team that completely eliminates the other team’s cups wins! Hurray if you’re still sober after this game!
Get Creative and Have Fun
Part and parcel of having fun at tailgate parties involves being creative, loosening up, and just having fun. If you plan on getting some friends together for an after-game tailgating party, be sure to include some of these games as a way to break the ice – especially if you have new people in the group who’ve never met each other.
